Science Games

Playable science

Away from the lab and the field I build small interactive projects out of the things I work on anyway: biodiversity, maps and ants. Video games reach people who would never open a research paper.

RangeQuestPublished

Guess. Learn. Collect.

A world to explore, and 250,000 species to learn.

Set out on a field expedition: travel the map, find species where they actually live, and fill a field guide with what you collect. Or play a quick round instead, guessing where a species lives, or naming what you see one rank at a time from family down to species. Every distribution comes from real occurrence records, the same data I work with all day.

See the coordinates. Find the place.

Built around the thing every biogeographer ends up doing by instinct: looking at coordinates and guessing where on Earth they sit.
